Tax Center Offers Information and Tools to Prepare for Tax Season

BOSTON, Mass., March 18, 2002 - State Street Research & Management Company, one of the nation's oldest investment managers, announced today the addition of a comprehensive on-line tax resource center to help shareholders prepare filings for the 2001 tax season. The resource is available on the firm's website at www.ssrfunds.com and is accessed by clicking on the Tax Center icon. Features of the Tax Center include:

  • A Guide to the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, the largest change in tax regulation in 20 years.

  • 2001 Actual Year-End Capital Gains Distributions for State Street Research Mutual Funds.

  • A Tax Season Checklist to help identify important data and financial information to incorporate into your filing.

  • Access to Quicken* TurboTax Premium for the WebSM, which guides taxpayers step-by-step through both federal and state returns on-line. Shareholders can use the instant data entry feature, which will enter important tax information automatically into the system, including dividends and capital gains from State Street Research.
